Objectives of SCP Forum Sri Lanka
- To function as a Professional Body on Sustainable Consumption & Production (SCP)
- To provide overall technical & policy guidance for the Ministries in charge of subjects of Environment and Sustainable Development, other relevant Ministries and organizations on SCP related matters as and when required.
- To act as a catalyst and think-tank for the promotion of SCP culture, concepts & practices.
- To serve as a technology watch group and share SCP practices and promotion of sustainable development and related activities.
- To provide advisory services for preparation of guidelines, code of practices, standards, R&D & innovation on SCP.
- To facilitate the exchange of lessons learned on SCP efforts.
- To assist Ministries in charge of subjects of Environment and Sustainable Development and other relevant Ministries and organizations to publicize SCP best practices including those that are indigenous.
- To undertake peer review of SCP efforts.
- To build relations and engage with the international, national, sub-national institutions and the private sector, civil society, academia and scientific communities on SCP efforts.
- To facilitate SCP education at all levels.
- To act as a clearing house for SCP initiatives.
- To act as a pressure group for the promotion and implementation of SCP.
- To serve as a forum for knowledge transfer and interactions on SCP.
- To serve as a vehicle through which government, international and private assistance for SCP may be equitably and effectively extended to Forum and its members.
- To provide Forum members, in co-operation with Ministries in charge of subjects of Environment and Sustainable Development and other relevant Ministries and organizations, adequate and updated information, services and capacity development on best SCP practices of SCP.
- To encourage and engage in consultancy services and implementation of SCP activities.
